Knee replacement surgery in Nizamabad in TS
For the first time in the new state of Telangana, a knee joint replacement surgery was done by a team of doctors at the district Hospital in Nizamabad, led by Associate Proffessor of Orthopedics, Dr. Y. Timma Reddy, on a 65 yr old farmer, in this unique partnership the patient bears 40 % of cost of implant, 60 % is provided by Helping Hand Foundation. The surgery was done for free in the government hospital.
Knee replacment surgery was done at the government hospital for 1/6th of the cost.
The sucess at Nizamabad shows that in rural areas in government hosptials this initiative can be taken up for the patients who can't afford to pay.
