World Lung Cancer Awareness Month - 1st November to 30th November 2018
The month of November is observed as Lung Cancer Awareness Month, in order to raise awareness about Lung cancer among the public.
The prevalence of lung cancer is increasing day by day in India. Lung cancer accounts for about 27 percent of all cancer deaths and is by far the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.
New research, diagnosis and treatment breakthroughs in the last 10 years have brought new hope to patients.
Smoking and chewing tobacco are the main culprits of lung cancer. Lung cancer has symptoms like a cough, weight loss, loss of appetite, hemoptysis (Blood in sputum), difficulty in breathing and chest pain.
Here in KIMS ICON Hospital, Sheela Nagar, we have an experienced team of Chest Physicians, Radiologists, and CT Surgeons, who work together to provide state of the art medical services right from early diagnosis to treatment. We do biopsies of lung lesions through Ultrasound or CT guidance, Bronchoscopic biopsies, and Transbronchial Needle Aspirations at a reasonable cost.
It is important to identify lung cancer in the early stages, as the prognosis is very poor in the advanced stage. Screening of high-risk patients, early detection of lung cancer and regular follow up makes a lot of difference and saves lots of lives.
