OVER 100 WORLD-CLASS CARDIOLOGISTS PARTICIPATED IN THE 1ST ANNUAL MEETING OF THE SOCIETY OF CORONARY SURGEONS

09th July, Hyderabad: The Society of Coronary Surgeons (SCS) was constituted to promote the sharing of knowledge, expertise and cutting-edge technical innovations. SCS 1st Annual Meeting (International) was organized here at Hyderabad. Dr. K. Srinath Reddy, President, Public Health Foundation of India & Former HOD, Department of Cardiology, AIIMS, Dr. Lokeswara Rao Sajja, President, SCS, Dr. Gopi Chand Mannam, Organizing Secretary, SCS and over 100 World-class Cardiologists from Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kerala, Chennai, Australia, UK etc participated in the event.

 

Dr. K. Srinath Reddy, President, Public Health Foundation of India, said, “These days Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) are increasing rapidly in India. Ultra-processed foods, unhealthy diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of physical activity, and many other factors contribute to the development of non-communicable diseases. Among those, Coronary Artery Diseases tops the list. People must be very careful & pay attention to their health. This kind of events will be extremely helpful in creating awareness in the society. I sincerely congratulate all the members & participants for organizing this event.”

 

Dr. Lokeswara Rao Sajja, President, SCS, said,The theme for the 1st Annual Meeting of SCS is Advances in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery. Coronary Artery Disease is assuming pandemic proportions in our country. More than 1,50,000 surgery procedures are performed annually in India and this number is only likely to increase substantially in the coming years. This annual meeting is one of the best forums for disseminating Doctors' work & experience to Coronary Surgeons and other members of the Cardiothoracic surgical fraternity.”

 

Dr. Gopi Chand Mannam, Organizing Secretary, SCS, once again thanked Hon’ble Vice President of India, his Excellency Shri. M. Venkaiah Naidu ji for inaugurating the Society of Coronary Surgeons through the virtual meeting on 20th December 2020, which was a successful meeting and a milestone for both scientific exchange and initiation of Surgeons of SCS participation Adult Cardiac Surgery Database Initiation.

 

Coronary Surgeons across the country and overseas have participated in the meeting physically and virtually to deliberate on modern advancements in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG). The 1st Annual Meeting has lined up with excellent presentations by a galaxy of the national and international speakers, round table conference, debates, and plenary session presentations. This Meeting is going to bring awareness to all the practicing coronary surgeons on latest advancements in the treatment and management of patients with coronary artery diseases and also on the importance of database and outcomes.

 

The objectives of the Society are to encourage the coronary surgeons to analyse CABG outcomes data, elicit evidence and generate knowledge in our country, keeping in mind that India is one among the countries that performs largest number of coronary artery bypass procedures but has very limited published data. The Society shall dedicate itself towards the prevention and management of coronary artery disease.
