Healthy aging with awareness : Doctors ' advice atApollo Hospitals workshop

Hyderabad , July 4, 2026: Experts at Apollo Hospitalshave advised women to consult doctors at an early stagerather than silently enduring bladder and pelvic floorproblems that appear in women as they age . To thisend, a one-day awareness program titled " Aging withConfidence - Solutions for Bladder and Pelvic FloorProblems " was organized on Saturday at the ApolloHospitals premises in Jubilee Hills .

A large number of elderly women , their family membersand caregivers participated in the program . Expertsprovided awareness on urinary incontinence , pelvicorgan prolapse , bladder health , healthy aging , andprecautions to be taken to strengthen pelvic floormuscles . Free bone mineral density ( BMD ), blood pressure , and blood sugar tests were conducted for theparticipants , as well as physiotherapy demonstrationsand doubt - clearing programs .

The program was conducted under the auspices of Dr.Nirmala Papalkar , Dr. Sreeja Gurrala , geriatric medicinespecialist , and Dr. Dharshita , urogynecology department. Experts from neurology , rheumatology , and cardiologydepartments also participated and explained the need formultidisciplinary coordinated treatment for the health of elderly women .

It was a special moment for many women who participated in the program to share their experiencesopenly for the first time about urinary leakage , pelvicfloor problems , and bladder problems . Doctors said thatmany women delay treatment due to shame , socialmisconceptions , and lack of awareness . Theanonymous question-and-answer program provided an opportunity for women to clarify their doubts without anyhesitation .

Experts explained that pelvic floor and bladder problemsshould not be ignored as a natural part of aging , and that these problems can be effectively controlled withearly diagnosis , physiotherapy , lifestyle changes , and modern medical treatments .
