DIET FOR DIABETES

DIET FOR DIABETES

A diabetic diet is planned for people with an increased blood glucose level. This health condition can be easily controlled by consuming healthy food in moderate amounts. Most of the food we eat is turned into glucose, which is later transformed into energy, to be used for various activities. The pancreas in our body produces a hormone called insulin, which helps the glucose to enter the cells of our body. Glucose is the basic fuel of the body. If a person has diabetes, the body either does not produces enough insulin or cannot use the insulin produced. Untreated diabetes can cause serious complications like heart disease, kidney failure, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Eating excess calories and fat creates an undesirable rise in blood glucose. A Diabetes Diet is based on eating three meals a day at regular times. This helps your body better use the insulin it produces or gets through a medication.

Dietician Jasleen Kaur, Founder & Mentor Just diet Clinic says that the main objective of any Diabetes Diet is to keep the blood glucose levels under control. Carbohydrate is a macronutrient, found primarily in fruit, vegetables, grain products and processed foods made with added sugars. It has a far greater influence on blood glucose than either protein or fat. Eating the same, limited amount of carbohydrates at regular times each day helps diabetic patients to maintain normal blood sugar levels.

Diabetes does not mean a complete elimination of sugar consumption but eating sugar in moderation. A Diabetic Diet is more about your overall dietary pattern rather than focusing on specific foods. The main aim is to eat more natural, unprocessed food and less packaged and convenience foods. Choosing the right kind of fats is essential, as some fats are unhealthy and others have enormous health benefits.
