Cycle Rally by Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals on World Kidney Day

Hyderabad, March 10th 2021: In the present stressful lives, a lot of people, irrespective of age, are suffering from Blood Pressure, diabetes and kidney-related problems said Lbnagar MLA, MRDC Chairman Devi Reddy Sudheer Reddy. All precautionary measures should be taken to prevent them he calls for. On the occasion of World Kidney Day, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Hyderabad organized a "5K Cycle Rally" to raise awareness on kidney health precautions. MLA Sudhir Reddy, who was the chief guest at the event, had inaugurated the rally with Dr Mervin Leo, CCOO, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Dr Sridhar, Head, Department of Nephrology, Dr Sandeep, Dr Isaac and Muddaraboyina Srinivasarao, ex Corporator. He later took part in a bicycle rally with the doctors. A large number of hospital doctors, nurses and medical staff took part in the 5K bicycle rally in Saidabad.

 

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sudheer Reddy said, "Everyone should take precautionary measures to protect their kidney health to avoid diseases. About 60 to 70 percent of kidney diseases are prevented by taking early precautions.  In this competitive world, young people do not even have the awareness of how much damage is caused by BP due to stress and not taking care of health issues. Even with BP and sugar problems, there is a threat to the kidneys and therefore people especially need to take precautionary measures to prevent these problems" he added. MLA praised the management, doctors and medical staff of Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals for their efforts in raising awareness by undertaking such social welfare programs.

 

Dr Sridhar, Head, Department of Nephrology, Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals, said, "We celebrate World Kidney Day on the 2nd Thursday of March every year around the world to explain the importance of the kidneys and to create awareness about kidney diseases among the people. This year too we are celebrating Kidney Day with the motto "Living Well with Kidney Disease". As part of this, we are working to raise awareness on kidney health and kidney disease prevention as increasing kidney disease worldwide Dr Sridhar added.  He explained that high levels of protein in the urine in people with kidney disease can lead to protein deficiency in the blood, swelling of legs, arms, face, urinary incontinence and kidney stones. Obesity also has a detrimental effect on human health. So that it is suggested that everyone over the age of 40 should be tested every year before their kidneys are damaged Dr Sridhar added.
