India's first TCRAT procedure successfully performed at Pulse Heart Super Speciality Hospital

Hyderabad, May 1: Pulse Heart Super Speciality Hospital, Miyapur, has achieved a national milestone by successfully performing India's first Total Endoscopic Coronary Revascularization Via Thoracotomy (TCRAT) - a state-of-the-art, minimally invasive alternative to traditional bypass surgery.

The complex procedure was performed by a skilled team including Senior Interventional Cardiologist and Managing Director Dr. M.S.S. Mukherjee, Senior Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Vamsi Krishna, Senior Cardiologist Dr. Movva Srinivas and Cardiac Anesthesiologist Dr. Shashikant.

TCRAT represents a significant evolution in the broader category of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS). While MICS refers to a series of heart surgeries that are performed without dividing the sternum, such as MIDCAB or valve repairs, TCRAT is a more advanced technique. It allows for complete coronary revascularization – bypassing multiple blocked arteries – through a small incision (left anterior thoracotomy) on the left side of the chest, without opening the breastbone. This distinguishes it from procedures like MIDCAB, which typically address only one or two vessels.
