MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY FOR KIDNEY CANCER PERFORMED IN KOLKATA

The rate of Kidney Cancer is increasing worldwide. Generally, people are diagnosed with Kidney Cancer at around age 64. It is rarely found in people younger than age 45, and the risk is higher in men than in women. If cancer cells grow in the kidney, it is called Kidney Cancer. Surgery is the first step to remove and treat a kidney tumor. A recent successful invasive surgery for Kidney Cancer took place in Columbia Asia hospital, Salt Lake in Kolkata. The surgery was conducted under the expertise of renowned Uro Surgeon Dr. Dibakar Ghosh, who said that this is the first time such a large renal tumor laparoscopic surgery has been performed in Kolkata.

A 67-year-old person was treated after suffering from prolonged Kidney Disease. According to Dr. Dibakar Ghosh, “It was diagnosed and observed that one of his kidneys was damaged completely due to a big tumor. The tumor was 67 inches in length and was identified to be malignant. Considering the ill-health and age of the patient, the decision to perform Keyhole Surgery was taken. Subsequently, in Columbia Asia Hospital Salt Lake, the Nephroureterectomy of that tumor was performed through three small holes”. Initially, Laparoscopic Surgery was used for Gall Bladder procedures, but lately, this surgery is being used in different fields of medical science, and now successfully in the case of Kidney Cancer too.

In this case, the patient returned home after two days of surgery, no units of blood were required, and the patient was not transferred to ICU. He was fit to resume normal life after a few days, due to less surgical injury and post-operative pain. The 67-year-old patient is now completely fit and lives a normal life.
