First pancreas organ donation marks historic milestone in Andhra Prades

Andhra Pradesh recorded its first successful pancreas organ donation, marking a significant milestone in the state's organ transplantation program under AP Jeevan Daan.

Marishetty Chinna Rao (26), a resident of Munagapaka village in Anakapalli district, sustained severe injuries in a road accident and was admitted to KIMS ICON Hospital. After doctors declared him brain dead, his family agreed to donate his organs.

Following counseling by AP Jeevan Daan State Coordinator Dr. Manmadha Rao on the importance of organ donation, the bereaved family agreed to donate both kidneys, the liver and the pancreas, offering a new lease of life to multiple patients awaiting transplants.

Dr. Manmadha Rao described the donation as a landmark achievement in the State's organ transplantation programme, noting that it was the first pancreas organ donation to be facilitated in Andhra Pradesh. He commended the donor's family for their humanitarian decision, saying it would serve as an inspiration to others.

He appealed to the public to create greater awareness about organ donation, emphasizing that a single donor could save several lives. The management of KIMS ICON Hospital also congratulated the donor's family for their noble gesture.

Visakhapatnam , July 15: Pancreas organ donation wassuccessfully performed for the first time in Andhra Pradesh . Marisetty Chinna Rao (26) of Munagapakavillage in Anakapalle district was seriously injured in a road accident and was diagnosed as brain dead whileundergoing treatment at KIMS Icon Hospital . His familymembers generously agreed to donate his organ .

AP Jeevan Dhan Coordinator Dr. Manmadha Raoexplained the importance of organ donation to the familymembers , and despite the grief of the deceased , theycame forward and donated two kidneys , liver , and pancreas . This gave many patients the opportunity to give a new life .

Speaking on the occasion , Dr. Manmadha Rao said thatthe first pancreas donation in the state is a milestone in the history of organ transplantation . Appreciating the service spirit of the donor family members , he said thattheir decision is inspiring to all others .

He called on everyone in society to come forward and raise awareness about organ donation , s
