5 Ways To Keep Your Back In Shape While Working

Vijay’s been working as a senior software engineer with one of the world’s largest MNCs for the past few years.
However, of late, he’s been missing delivery deadlines, calling in sick often and has a huge pending backlog at work. All because of a crippling backache coupled with a splitting headache that refuses to go away, no matter how many pills he pops each day.
His physician blames his poor posture at work as the root cause of these ailments.
You can easily avoid such situations by following a few simple tips to maintain a good posture while using a desktop.
Computer monitor at eye level - If you have to look either up or down at the computer screen, then you’ll end up straining your neck for sure. Plop some books under the monitor to raise it up or lower your chair to ensure that the computer screen is at eye level.
Relax those shoulders! - If you need to stretch your arms just to type or use the mouse, you’re calling for shoulder injuries and chronic pain in the upper back. A healthier way is to relax your shoulders and place your arms on the armrest at a 90-degree angle.
Support your back - Chronic lower back pain can leave you in tears to the extent that even simple movements like lifting, bending or turning over while sleeping become arduous. If your chair doesn’t provide support to the lower back, use a small, firm pillow instead.
Uncross those legs! - If you want to avoid cramped leg muscles and ensure good blood circulation, sit up straight with your feet placed straight on the floor. Of course, crossing your legs once in a while is fine.
Keep your things handy! - You’re repeatedly placing your body in an uncomfortable position if you have to keep stretching or bending over to reach for that bottle of water or to pick up your phone. A better idea is to keep everything you need within easy reach.
By incorporating these small changes into your daily life, you’ll keep several health issues at bay and your body will thank you for it in the long run!
