Broken artery treated successfully in KIMS Kurnool
Kurnool, 3rd January 2021: KIMS Kurnool doctors performed the rarest surgery, which is 20th such case in the entire world successfully. Mr. NagarjunaReddy, aged 32, who belongs to the Giddalur went to the local hospital with pain in the chest. Local doctors took ECG and detected no symptoms of a heart attack. But, when they tested the blood, doctors found some symptoms of heart disease and his relatives brought him to KIMS Kurnool at midnight.
Dr. Rajkumar, Consultant Cardiologist explains this case. "Usually heart attacks happen when arteries were blocked. But in this case, the arteries have broken and it is detected in an angiogram. This is a very rare case and the 20th such in the entire world. This one is more different than the previous 19 cases too. There was hemorrhage due to the broken artery and leaked blood increased pressure on the heart. Usually, the blood pressure of the patient falls and he dies. But, in this case, the issue was found immediately and we controlled the blood leakage by Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty.
Usually, state of the art equipment to do such rare treatment are not available in urban areas like Kurnool. They are available only in KIMS Kurnool. A covered stent was placed and the life of the youth was saved. We have performed a Cardiac MRI scan and confirmed that there is no risk at all. When the patient came for follow-up after 15 days, he is completely healthy."
The patient wholeheartedly thanked Dr. Rajkumar, who saved his life. The doctor said he has a rare chance of getting a heart attack in the future too. He suggested the patient quit smoking and boozing, to do regular exercises, and to keep BP and Diabetes in control. Family members are also prone to such problems and they were also advised to take complete care.
