BABY OF VIMALA BEATS THE ODDS! (Timely intervention by Malla Reddy Narayana doctors saves premature baby and mother’s lives)

When baby of Vimala’s mother was admitted in Malla Reddy Narayana Multispecialty Hospital, Hyderabad, with severe pre-eclampsia in the 29th week of her pregnancy, the doctors were aware of the gravity of the situation. The team, however, was geared for such a crisis, and an emergency LSCS was performed to deliver the baby pre- term. “We managed to stabilize the patient’s blood pressure within five days, despite the patient (mother of the pre-term baby) being admitted in a critical condition,” said Dr. Pranathi Reddy, who performed the procedure.

The baby girl, delivered at the gestational age of only 29 weeks, was born with a birth weight of 890 grams. The medical experts at Malla Reddy Narayana Hospital immediately sprang into action to ensure that the baby received intensive medical intervention to overcome the obstacles of a premature birth. Respiratory distress due to low surfactant was just one of the complications. But the baby however, showed great resilience, and responded well to the treatment when she was intubated and then put on ventilator. During her entire hospital stay baby Nirmala was intubated and mechanically ventilated twice, and a PICC line was established twice.

Under the vigilant supervision of our expert Neonatal care team which is further supported by the level 3 NICU infrastructure available at our facility, baby  has not only gained weight (710 grams in just 70 days!) but also achieved important developmental milestones. Today, this tiny hero weighs 1600 gms! The collaborative efforts of our dedicated doctors, nurses, and support staff, combined with the unwavering strength and determination of baby, have resulted in these groundbreaking results.

“We employed a meticulous treatment plan that encompassed specialized nutrition, constant monitoring, and tailored medical interventions to ensure the baby's optimal growth and well-being,” said Dr. Deepa D. Shetty, Neonatologist at Malla Reddy Narayana Multispecialty Hospitals. “We are indeed very happy at the progress made by baby in such a brief period, and we are committed to supporting her continued growth and development.”

“We worked really hard as a team to accomplish what we did,” said Dr. K. Rajshekar, Senior Pediatrician at Malla Reddy Narayana Multispecialty Hospital. “We are especially happy that there are no developmental abnormalities, and that baby can lead a normal life. Looking at the happy faces of parents is the most satisfying thing for us. We continue in our commitment to deliver world-class neonatal care and services.”
