TOSA MID TERM CME on Management of Open Fractures

TOSA (Telangana Orthopaedic Surgeon’s Association) and TCOS (Twin Cities Orthopaedic Association) in association with KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, organized a one-day CME program on 27thJanuary 2019. The objective of this CME was to update knowledge and impart training on advance management strategies in treating complex injuries.

Open injuries in road accidents are disastrous and pose threatening challenges to the treating surgeons. Thus it is very important for young Orthopaedic Surgeons to keep themselves updated on the trends and advances in management of such complex fractures, which will save the limbs of many patients who sustain such injuries.

Global Trends in Management of Open Injuries is a one-day scientific extravaganza held to target young Orthopaedic Surgeons and Post Graduates across both theTelugu states.

“Our aim was to impart training on the advances and updates in literature, and also teach about the resuscitation protocols and emergency protocols for surgeons practicing in rural areas where many such injuries are encountered. Many expert National Faculty and our State Faculty participated as guest speakers, sharing their views and experiences in such complex situations with the target audience. We designed the program in an interactive way to engage all the participating audience. Audience Response System Technology, using voting pads, is used to capture audience opinions on the plan of management of the presented case scenario. Through this, the entire hall interacted, discussing the best effective line of management and challenges posed in the case scenario,” said Dr Srinivas Kasha, Organizing Chairman - TOSA MID TERM CME & SECRETARY, TCOS.

Over 250 Orthopaedic Surgeons and Post Graduates across both theTelugu states attended the CME.

“This is a case-focused CME. It covered the most difficult real case scenarios that we face in our daily practice. Many thanks to the excellent Organizing Committee. We have gained good knowledge and useful techniques which can be practiced in day-to-day cases,” said a participant.
