Hyderabad Showcases the Benefits of Almonds in a Nutshell

Hyderabad, 28th June 2018: Almonds, commonly known as the king of nuts, are not only versatile, crunchy and delicious but also offer natural goodness in every bite. The almond took center stage at an event organized by the Almond Board of California, and hosted by popular Chef B. Kumar and renowned Nutritionist Harini Bala. They were joined by Fitness Expert Salman Ali Khan, and focused on almonds as a healthy snack, and its effects when supplemented with a regular exercise regime.

The session began with Chef Kumar preparing a few simple snack recipes. “Eating healthy does not mean you have to give up eating snacks,” said the chef, “Smart snacking is the key! A handful of almonds, for instance, may have satiating properties that promote feelings of fullness, which may keep hunger at bay between meals and steer you away from less healthy options.”

Following this, Mr. Khan spoke about the importance of incorporating short exercise regimes into our daily schedules. During his interactive session, he shared a 15-minute basic workout routine to incorporate into our daily schedules. “You do not have to hit the gym, go for a run or walk but even simple exercises at home done right every day, can go a long way. Regular exercise plus healthy eating including snacking on fruits and nuts like almonds will make a healthy difference to your life,” he added.

Ms. Bala expanded upon the nutritional benefits of eating almonds. “One simple step towards healthier eating is by incorporating healthy snacks like almonds in your daily diet,” she said, continuing, “A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association found that a daily snack of 42 grams of almonds, consumed as part of an overall healthy diet, improved several risk factors for heart disease.”

She spoke about almonds’ anti-oxidant qualities (being rich in vitamin E), and its role in satiety, reduction in belly fat and waist circumference, and diabetes management, along with its role in improving LDL cholesterol levels, and maintaining a healthy heart.
