How to Make Yourself Comfortable While Driving

 

Fit your back should comfortably into the seat. The headrest should be at the same height as your head.

 

Tilt your seat back slightly, but keep it at an angle that lets you have a good view of the road.

 

Rest your thighs comfortably on the seat cushion without exerting any pressure.

 

You should be able to push the pedals without lifting yourself off the seat and your knees should be slightly bent while doing so.

 

Keep your shoulders in contact with the seat when you’re using the steering wheel. Your arms should be slightly bent at the elbows when you’re doing this.

 

Place your hands restfully on the steering wheel at the three o’clock and nine o’clock positions.

 

Adjust your rear-view mirror such that it’s easy to look at it with simple eye movements. Something’s wrong if you’re moving your whole head to look at the rear-view mirror.

 

Once your adjustments are done, you should be able to reach all the controls comfortably.

 

Driving forces you into a constrained position. But you can take simple measures to help yourself feel less inhibited. For example, if you’re going on a long-distance drive, take a break every few hours. When you’re stuck in traffic, perform simple exercises like buttock clenches and shoulder circles.

 

Ensure that you’re comfortable while driving by wearing loose clothing and flat shoes. Before you start driving, position all the items that you might need within reach. Similarly, remove items like keys from your pockets so that no part of your body is compressed.
