Continental Hospitals gets green audit

Continental Hospital’s adherence to stringent infection control policies and hygiene conditions was recognized with the presentation of Green OT certificate, awarded by Bureau Veritas & Abbot. Continental Hospitals became the second hospital in the state to have cleared the strict, year-long audit process of the certification.

The Green OT certification was initiated to promote sustainable healthcare delivery and create a benchmark for performance in operation theatres (OT) across India. It is a first-in-the-world certification and also the first ‘Make in India’ certification protocol developed by Bureau Veritas in association with Abbott India and multi hospital stakeholders like clinicians, bio-medical, hospital QA, Green House Gas surveyors, administrators etc.

It focuses on key factors influencing the activities inside the Operation Theatre, such as pre & post operative procedures, type of anesthetic agents used, the quality safety norms practiced in the OT, ventilation & scavenging systems among others. These factors help to estimate the patient safety levels inside the OT.

The certificate was presented by Mr. Kausik Bhattacharya- National Sales Manager-Abbot India and Mr. Rammohan Rao- Bureau Veritas. Receiving the certificate on was Mr Faisal Siddiqui, CEO, Continental Hospitals, who said, “The Green OT certification is a vital addition to our growing list of accreditations. As a hospital that is already NABH, NABH Nursing as well as JCI accreditated, Green OT reflects our commitment to environment & patient friendly working practices in our Operation Theatres. Implementing the standards as prescribed by the certificate, we will be able to increase the overall efficiency, safety and quality of our OT processes, with minimized risk of infection to our patients who have undergone surgical procedures.”
