3 Liters of Blood Loaded in 55 Year Old Female Abdomen due to Ruptured in Ovarian
55-year-old Mrs.Sarita Patil (Name changed) visited Oncolife cancer center with a complain of severe abdomen pain and giddiness. She just had her previous sonography reports, after examining Dr. Lokhande and HDU, OT and Anesthesia team of Oncolife cancer center revealed that patient need immediate surgery as it had 2.5 to 3 liters of blood in abdomen and ruptured left ovarian.
As with most cancers the risk of developing ovarian cancer increases as a woman gets older. Women over the age of 50 have a higher risk, and most cases of ovarian cancer occur in women who have already gone through the menopause. Ovarian tumors usually present with chronic abdominal pain, an abdominal mass, or distension, but in some cases, it may rupture or undergo torsion and present as acute abdomen.
Dr. Lokhande, onco surgeon at Oncolife cancer center said, "The patient visted to the center around 5:30pm, her BP was low, had a unbearable abdominal pain. We immediately prepared her for surgery around 7pm we took her to OT, we found 2.5 to 3 liters of blood only in her abdomen, Whereas the average adult has about 1.2 to 1.5 gallons (4.5 to 5.5 liters) of blood circulating inside their body. There was also a ruptured left ovarian tumour of about 20 by 20 cm actively bleeding from over all.
